Our Family’s Travel Destinations

Wanderlust is kind of a “theme” right now, with many people being infected with the travel bug.  BUT, wanderlust is not a new or trendy concept for us.  We have been traveling as a family for decades. We are here to tell you that it is possible to travel, even with kids! You don’t have to wait until the kids are grown or until you reach millionaire status (because lets be honest, how many really reach that?) to go on that dream vacation. We want to show you, through budgeting and planning, that you can travel with your family and create memories that can last forever.

You may be thinking, “Okay, we want to go on a trip to a specific country…but we don’t know what to do when we get there!” That’s where Our Family Passport comes in. We can help you plan (hugely important) and organize your itinerary. You’ll be able to spend less time and money figuring out what travel plans are, and actually have more time to do it instead! We’ll help you create amazing travel experiences for you and your family!

Our family has been traveling together for a long time, but we only started writing about it a within the last few years! We’ve written about our older trips, and write about the new ones while we are still traveling! There is always new info to share! All of our posts come from personal experience and what worked (or didn’t) for us individually and as a family.

We’ve organized our destination posts by continent. So as an example; if you’re looking for information on Paris,  just click on the Europe link! We are constantly updating each section as we travel to new places & have new insights on an already visited location. Keep checking back often as we’re adding more content about different destinations all the time.

Some members of our family recently completed a trip to Antarctica! Stay tuned for a blog post about their experiences and recommendations if you want to brave the icy tundra! It was soooo cool:)

destinations for families in the US

United States and Canada

Most of our readers hail from The United States or Canada. If you’re anything like us, you dream about traveling to another country before you consider what your home country has to offer. The USA offers so much more than Disneyland (though Disney parks are great too)! Take a trip into the backyard of your home country–even your home state! We have places you can go on a quick day trip, and we also talk about our place to unplug from the rest of the world. See what your home state or country has to offer for a memorable vacation!

destinations for families in mexico

Mexico, Central, and South America

Mexico, Central and South America are full of life, color, and amazing history and experiences you can’t otherwise get at home. We know about the most touristy areas in these countries, but we also know about the rare finds–the hole-in-the-wall restaurant with the BEST carnitas tacos we have ever had, to the most beautiful architecture and museums celebrating latin history and culture. For an experience like none other, we recommend you peruse this link to learn about our favorite destinations in Mexico, Central and South America

European destinations for families

If you’ve been through our site already, you can probably tell that Europe is our most visited continent (we love it so much)! We can’t help it–some of our family members are big fans of art museums, and France has one of the best known museums in the world, the Louvre. But Europe isn’t just London and Paris, there are many more countries and places to discover in Switzerland, Germany, Scotland, Ireland (the list goes on and on) and many others that are perfect for people of all ages. Whether you are there for 5 days or 5 weeks, we have the perfect itinerary for you.  Don’t miss out on Europe!

destinations for families in Asia

We haven’t traveled to Asia as much as other continents, but it is our quest to explore more of what this diverse continent has to offer. Asian countries have an ancient and complex history, with some of the most populous cities on earth, stunning rural areas, amazing inventions and architecture. For a vacation you’ll never forget, take a look at our Asian destination posts!  This continent is a feast for all senses.  We are excited to share our Asia travels with you.

Africa is so much more than we ever learned about in school; Africa has so many cool countries within its borders, all with differing cultures, traditions, and geography. If you want to explore Africa’s modern cities, there are some lovely ones. If you feel more like an African beach destination or even a safari, we know the best places to go. If you’re up for an adventure and want to experience under-appreciated locations, we recommend you try Africa.  An African safari is one of our most favorite adventures yet!!

destinations for families in Australia & South Pacific

Australia and the South Pacific

The South Pacific is now one of our favorite places!  The lush islands of French Polynesia are some of the most beautiful and relaxing destinations especially if you are a fan of warm, clear water and perfect beaches. From stunning hotels right on the beach, to those romantic overwater bungalows there is something for everyone.  From activities like hiking, scuba diving, snorkeling with manta rays and swimming with sharks, this is a beach vacation of your dreams.  Trust us!  Everyone should visit French Polynesia at least once.  Add this one to your bucket list.
